I’m Demi, the founder of Diversion Training — an organisation rooted in community, connection and life-long learning. I’m a facilitator, well-being coach, and community learning & development practitioner with a passion for helping people grow in confidence, strengthen their resilience and discover new pathways forward.

My own journey taught me how challenging the road to stability can be. Without the right support, and a few diversions along the way, my life could have looked very different. That experience fuels my commitment to youth empowerment, positive well-being, and creating safe, engaging spaces where people can thrive.

For the past 13 years, I’ve worked across youth services, education, the third sector and corporate spaces, specialising in group facilitation, team building, and values-based leadership. I believe deeply in the power of community: when people work together, communicate openly and have fun, they build relationships that lead to lasting change. The communities I’ve been part of have shaped who I am today. Their support inspired me to create Diversion Training a place where creative facilitation, experiential learning, and strengths-based coaching come together to help individuals and organisations flourish. My mission is to pay it forward by supporting others to take positive steps for themselves and their communities.

A bit more about my background:

  • I began as a judo coach with my local club (still coaching today), where I was awarded Young Coach of the Year 2018.

  • I completed a PDA in Youth Work and moved into education as a secondary school youth support worker, focusing on confidence building and goal setting.

  • I worked with Midlothian Council in various roles, including Activity Agreement Key Worker and within External Education Services, with a strong emphasis on youth engagement and early intervention.

  • I achieved an HNC in Working with Communities (Grade A).

  • With Columba 1400, I worked as a Partnership Facilitator delivering leadership development, group work, and building strong multi-agency partnerships across Scotland.

  • Currently I am working withing Midlthian Children and Families as Practitoner. Building a deeper knowledge of statutory services and family interventions.

Through Diversion Training, I combine communication skills training, collaboration-focused workshops, and well-being support to help people feel empowered, connected and ready to take their next step.
